to take off one's trousers. An Australian-ism (Daks is a trademark for a brand of casual slacks especially popular in the early 1960s in Britain and Australia). A catchphrase from The Adventures of Barry McKenzie, the cartoon strip pub-lished in Private Eye magazine in the late 1960s was 'drop your daks and say the magic word'.
